Administrative Staff

The Administration team consists of a Principal and a Vice Principal. All are qualified Ontario Principals and are members in good standing of The Ontario College of Teachers. Among them, they have many years of experience in education.

William Hargreaves • Principal

Mr. Hargreaves has been the Principal of Maple Leaf International School since August, 2010. He comes to Maple Leaf from Holland Landing, Ontario, which is a small village approximately 1 hour north of Toronto, Ontario.

Mr. Hargreaves holds a BA.  from York University, and a B.Ed. from The University of Western Ontario. He did his Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto and received his M.Ed. in Educational Planning.  His Principal's Qualifications were earned at the University of Ottawa.

As a teacher, Mr. Hargreaves taught English and Mathematics and science in a number of schools within the York Region District School Board at both the elementary and secondary levels. He held lead teacher positions prior to becoming a Vice-Principal and a Principal.  Mr. Hargreaves served as an administrator in both English Track Schools, and dual track French-English Schools.

In the last 6 years Mr. Hargreaves served in the Human Resources Department at the York Region District School Board and further, he was involved in a number of schools as a Principal on Special Assignment.

In his leisure time Mr. Hargreaves enjoys time with his family, outdoor activities, reading and travel.

Michele Riley • Vice Principal

Michele Riley is a national of Trinidad and Tobago and is married with two sons, both of whom attend Maple Leaf International School.  She has a diploma in Montessori Teaching from the Association Montessori Internationale in London, England; a B.A. in Psychology from Mt. Allison University in Canada, and a M.Ed. in Special Education and Psychometrics from the University of British Columbia in Canada.

Mrs. Riley has been an educator since 1981, teaching in the local system and at Maple Leaf International School. She has taught students ranging in age from 4 years to 11 years as a classroom teacher, as a Special Education teacher and IT teacher in the local system. At Maple Leaf, she taught English and Learning Strategies to students in grades 9 – 11. She also had a private practice as an Educational Diagnostician for 12 years.
