Maple Leaf International SchoolAdministrative StaffThe Administration team consists of a Principal and two Vice Principals. While the Principal has overall responsibility for the school, one Vice Principal supervises the secondary school while the other has responsibility for the elementary program. All are qualified Ontario Principals and are members in good standing of The Ontario College of Teachers. Among them, they have upwards of one hundred years of experience in education. Janet Pomeroy • PrincipalJanet Pomeroy has more than 30 years experience in education in Ontario Canada prior to coming to Maple Leaf International School in September 2004. She brings experience as a classroom teacher, consultant, vice principal and principal. Her last Ontario posting was as Principal of Program for a school board of 110 schools in southern Ontario. In this role, Janet and her staff had responsibility for providing support for school programs, JK to grade 12. Janet’s qualifications include Bachelor of Science, Masters in Education, Ontario Principal Qualifications and Ontario Supervisory Officer Qualifications. John Shaughnessy• Vice Principal Secondary SchoolJohn Shaughnessy comes to Maple Leaf with over 35 year of school experience in a variety of schools. He also did consulting work in the area of using student data to improve student success. His last school assignment was as founding principal of a high school in Ottawa, Canada. In addition he served as an elementary principal in two schools and principal and vice principal of several high schools. Prior to that, he taught secondary mathematics. He has two grown children. His wife is a former English teacher and Head of department. Michele Riley • Vice Principal Elementary SchoolMichele Riley is a national of Trinidad and Tobago and is married with two sons, both of whom attend Maple Leaf International School. She has a diploma in Montessori Teaching from the Association Montessori Internationale in London, England; a B.A. in Psychology from Mt. Allison University in Canada, and a M.Ed. in Special Education and Psychometrics from the University of British Columbia in Canada. Mrs. Riley has been an educator for the past 20 years, 12 of which were in the local system and for the last 8 years at Maple Leaf. She has taught students ranging in age from 4 years to 11 years as a classroom teacher, as a Special Education teacher and IT teacher in the local system. At Maple Leaf, she taught English and Learning Strategies to students in grades 9 – 11. She also had a private practice as an Educational Diagnostician for 12 years. |
