Mission

The Association is dedicated to ensuring that Maple Leaf International School (hereinafter called “the School”) is a safe and caring environment which nurtures character development, positive attitudes and superior academic skills, such that each student may achieve his or her best potential, and may become a valued member of society.

Aims and Objectives

To contribute to the development and improvement of all aspects of school life - academic, moral values, sports, culture, Extra Curricular activities, equipment and organization by:

1. Enabling good communication between students, parents, teachers, the principal, administration and the Board of Directors of the School (“the Board of Directors”)
   
   
2. Helping to strengthen the relationship between the home and the School
   
   
3. Raising funds to enhance the School
   
   
4. Communicating a positive image of the School within our walls and to the wider community

Membership, Executive and Contact

All parents/legal guardians of students enrolled at the School and all teachers of the School are automatically members of The Association.

The PTA has a seven member executive which is elected at the annual meeting which is held in September. Meetings are normally held every second Tuesday. Executive positions include:

• President
• Vice President
• Secretary
• Communications Officer
• Chairperson of Grade Reps
• Treasurer and Fund-raiser

Projects

The PTA, in addition to providing important feedback to school administration, supports the school and its students in many tangible ways. Recently, the PTA purchased 12 computers for student use. This in turn allowed us to computerize our attendance tracking using the computers which were older but good enough for this application.

The association also provided the Synre–voice system. This allows the school to contact each night any parent whose student misses class for an unexplained reason. We are able to e-mail our parents as well. A most important feature allows us to send a recorded message to each residence announcing events such as report cards being distributed, notice of curriculum nights or PTA fund-raisers.

Our PTA has provided prizes for athletic competitions and for short story contests.  Recently, the PTA has begun to purchase team sweaters for our athletes.  Students really appreciate the new benches in the school yard … perfect for liming.
