GRADUATION AWARDS

Subject Awards


CRITERIA:         Awarded to the student with the highest grade 12 marks.

                             A final minimum average of at least 80% in the given subject

                             area must have been achieved.  $1,000.00TT awarded to each

                             subject award recipient.


Business & Economics

The average of any two of the following university level courses: Accounting, Economics, International Business and Organizational Studies


Canadian & World Studies


The average of any two of the following university level courses: Geography, History, Politics, and Law.


Co-operative Education


  

A Grade 12 course taken as Cooperative Education


Computer Science and Technology 


A Grade 12 university level course in computer Science or Technology


English

A Grade 12 university level English


Humanities

The average of any two of the following university level courses: Challenge and Change, Food and Nutrition, Human Growth and Development and Individuals and Families In a Diverse Society.


Mathematics

The average of Advanced Functions plus one of the following university level mathematics course: Calculus and Vectors or Mathematics of Data Management


Modern Languages - Spanish 


  

University level Spanish course. (LWSDU)


Music

Grade 12 music course.


Physical Education & Health 


The average of Exercise Science plus one other grade 12 Physical Education course


Science

The average of any grade 12 university level science courses: Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, and Physics.


Visual Arts

Grade 12 university level Visual Arts.

Awarded to the student with the highest overall grade 12 average

 continuing in the field of business.

Chosen by the secondary teachers and awarded to the individual who has made significant contributions to the MLIS community, with a willingness to place the good of others ahead of personal interests.

TT $2,500.00               Presented by:

Awarded to the student who has demonstrated the most commitment to

MLIS and has been an active member of the MLIS Student Council for at least one year.

TT$1,000.00                Presented by:

Awarded to the student who has shown dedication and leadership in sports

at MLIS both on and off the field throughout their high school career.

Awarded to the student with the highest average in all grade 11 & 12 courses

The recipient of the Governor General's Medallion will receive an award of TT$2,000.00

The recipients PTA Citizenship Award, Student Council Award, and Sports Leadership Award shall be determined as follows:


•·         Staff  put forth nominees

•·         All nominees names are circulated to all secondary staff (confidentially)

•·         At a staff meeting, the nominees are discussed and staff select the winners by majority vote
